Mar 29, My dad made a stump grinder out of a tiller some years ago. For the actual cutter, he ganged a half-dozen or so used circular saw blades. It worked pretty well. I don't know if you are doing a whole lot of stumps, or if you just have a few to remove.
I have never used a a"real" stump grinder, so I cannot say how it measured up. Good luck. Lawn mowers are often considered as a first-choice for conversion to a stump grinder.
