Sep 21, My jeep is and the upper control arms had torx head bolts on the axle side. When I pressed the bushings into place on the axle I rigged it with what I had. I believe I even used a socket from my 3/4 inch drive set. I"squared" the bushing up with a tap from a plastic mallet.
I need to change the axle side.
Aug 01, Put a washer and a nut on the threaded rod. Now you are ready to pull out a bushing. Put the tool on the bushing (some bushings will have a lip that prevents pulling from one side). Nov 25, Re: Removing control arm bushings (axle side) You can use a peice of threaded rod with a washer the same size as outer sleeve and a cup or large socket to receive the bushing into. That may be a more humane way.
Jul 03, Re: Upper Control Arm Bushings? If they are old enough like they were in my 92 XJ then you may be able to bang out the old ones with a hammer. I did that with a 2 lb. ball peen hammer and they popped out after a couple of bangs.
